Flew on creance in field. Tossed 4 times, but quickly winded (after two tosses) and did not have strong lift or stamina. Wing clapping every time. Interesting to see the difference between what it looked like in Aviary (very good) and the reality of being outdoors with distance.

Patient taken to VTH for radiographs of wings. BT reported assymetry during flight and clapping sound during down stroke of flap. Patient anesthetized with isoflurane via facemask. No obvious abnormalities with ROM or instability in either wing during palpation. Lateral and CC views of each wing obtained, VD and H view of shoulders obtained. No significant osseous abnromalities were observed. Small amount of soft tissue swelling present over left carpus and small defect in left patagium noted. Possible ventral deviation of left alula noted but could not rule out positioning.

AS reviewed images from AURC and noted possible malpositioning of the left scapula.

Discussed possible CT scan to evaluate shoulders and scapula futher

2024-10-23 13:14 AMS

Palpated p after brought back from radiology. Could not appreciate any abnormalities or asymmetry in the wings or thoracic girdle.

Electrophoresis Interpretation Cont: Increases may also be observed with sarcocystosis and chronic chlamydiosis as well as mycobacteriosis. Specific beta globulin proteins are also increased in egg laying birds. Follow up EPH may have prognostic value in this case.

2024-132's albumin levels were normal, and a more extensive chemistry panel shows that liver and kidney values are within normal range. This leads chronic/acute inflammation as the top explaination for bloodwork changes and no further testing is required at this time.

There were many smudge cells on the submitted slides. This may alter the differential and WBC. For best results, make smears as soon as possible after sample aquisition. The cell distribution was uneven on the provided smears. This may affect CBC results.

The CBC and Chemistry are within normal limits. The protein electrophoresis shows a low albumin, which could be caused by nephritis/hepatitis/parasitism. It also showed increase alpha 1 and 2 globulins which coould be explained by acute inflammation from the same unknown inciting cause of the ocular issues.

Electrophoresis Comments
The albumin is decreased. This may reflect hydration, nephritis, hepatitis, or parasitism. Low albumin
can also be observed in young animals. The beta globulins are increased and reflective of acute
inflammation. Moderate to marked increases in this fraction can be observed with nephritis, hepatitis,
dermatitis, and mycotic infection. Increases may also be observed with sarcocystosis and chronic
chlamydiosis as well as mycobacteriosis. Specific beta globulin proteins are also increased in egg
laying birds. Followup EPH may have prognostic value in this case.
